The laboratory
LabOtim
LabOtim, an optimization laboratory associated with the Systems Engineering and Computer Science Program at COPPE/UFRJ, has as its main objective the training of human resources and the development of computational optimization models aimed at solving complex problems in both theoretical and applied fields.
To achieve this, efforts are made to develop tools that support decision-making in order to address natural phenomena. In this way, interdisciplinary research is promoted, involving different areas of knowledge such as Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Logistics, Transportation, and Healthcare. Some of the investigated applications include issues related to Smart Cities, Supply Chains, Industry 4.0, and the Internet of Things.

Operations Research Applied to Your Organization
From data to decisions, LabOtim runs R&D projects in descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics with the private sector and with funding from public research agencies. Machine learning, optimization and digital twins come in as the problem requires. The laboratory is accredited by ANP for projects funded by the oil and gas R&D clause.
